London, UK – 2nd October 2025 – This autumn, on-street EV charging operator char.gy is joining forces with Disney’s TRON: Ares for an electrifying campaign celebrating the film’s release in cinemas on 10th October 2025.

Last week, co-branded char.gy and TRON: Ares electric “digi-vans” travelled through London past Disney’s and Landsec’s Piccadilly Lights TRON: Ares takeover, a one-of-a-kind marketing activation.

char.gy will also host community-facing activations across London and Brighton & Hove over the next fortnight, giving communities a chance to experience the excitement of the new film while learning how electrification is transforming everyday life.

Why It Matters: Access & Awareness

In char.gy’s recent nationwide study “What Everyone Should Know About EVs,” a critical gap was uncovered: despite rapid expansion of the UK’s charging network, perceptions haven’t caught up. Awareness and confidence remain major barriers to adoption, with 72% of EV rejecters admitting they don’t know where they would charge.

With more than 40% of UK households lacking a driveway and access to home charging, building convenient EV charging options - and making sure people know about them - is essential to accelerating this transition.

By bringing the energy and spectacle of TRON: Ares into real city streets, char.gy will shine a spotlight on this electric transition, showing that switching to EVs isn’t just practical - it’s exciting, dynamic, and, like the film, impossible to miss.

Immersive Activations That Bring the Grid to Life

The campaign’s pop-up “digi-vans” will transform familiar streets into a vision of the film’s futuristic world. Stationed at char.gy charge points and high-footfall locations, the vans will give visitors a chance to enjoy music, watch the campaign video, learn about the future of electrification in their area, and discuss EV adoption with char.gy representatives.

These activations will immerse the public in the film’s futuristic digital world while showcasing how electrification is reshaping everyday life at pace and scale.

The UK’s Streets Need Infrastructure and Awareness

At char.gy, thousands of electric journeys are powered every day with convenient charging right outside people’s homes. The company’s growing network connects EV drivers without home charging directly to the grid where they live, building ahead of demand to make the switch to electric easier for those considering it. But awareness of charging options remains a huge gap - and as one of the main determinants of going electric, it’s something char.gy is committed to changing.

“In TRON: Ares, ‘The Grid’ represents a vast, interconnected system, and that vision aligns with what we’re building at char.gy,” said John Lewis, CEO of char.gy. “Our mission is to lead the transition by scaling infrastructure that accelerates sustainable change while strengthening the communities we serve. We want to connect our drivers to charging infrastructure that makes sustainable choices simple, accessible, and part of everyday life — empowering people to act today and secure the future we all want.”

“We are sparking new ways to connect with people about the future of sustainable mobility,” said Olivia Crossman, Marketing Manager of char.gy. “This campaign reimagines the everyday act of EV charging, pairing the rapid pace of real-world change with the extraordinary universe of TRON. While TRON: Ares’ futuristic digital world is imagined, the reality of electric driving is already here — and we want to ensure everyone can plug into it.”

TRON: Ares follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings. The feature film is directed by Joachim Rønning and stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Jodie Turner-Smith, Hasan Minhaj, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, with Gillian Anderson and Jeff Bridges.

Sean Bailey, Jared Leto, Emma Ludbrook, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer and Steven Lisberger are the producers, with Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross, Russell Allen, and Joseph Kosinski serving as executive producers. The screenplay is by Jesse Wigutow, with story by David DiGilio and Wigutow, based on characters created by Steven Lisberger and Bonnie MacBird.
