EV Market Growth in the UK

The shift to electric is accelerating.

The UK EV market in 2025 is on a strong and positive trajectory, with more than 6,000 charge points being added to the UK public network this year alone. The country has now surpassed 80,000 public charge points as of May 2025, meaning that the public network has grown by more than 30% since April last year. These are impressive stats, but what is fueling this growth?

In 2024 alone, almost 20,000 public charge points were installed across the UK. The increase in the ability for those without a driveway to charge their EVs is a big factor in the growth of the EV market.

There were 24,043 new EVs registered in April 2025, securing 20.4% market share. Petrol registrations also plummeted by 38.6% in April, with diesel also continuing its sharp decline (-27.0%), accelerating the shift away from traditional ICE.

Affordability is improving, with a growing second-hand EV sector making electric driving more accessible. All signs point to steady progress towards the UK’s 2035 zero-emissions vehicle target.
