EV Breezy Bank Hol in Brighton

Hold on tight to your fish 'n' chips

Got any plans this weekend? A few of the char.gy crew are swapping the city streets for sea breeze and heading down to the sunny south coast, destination: Brighton.

To help them out (and any other Londoners feeling slightly nervous about leaving the warm embrace of the M25), I’ve pulled together a little tour guide.

As well as the char.gy clan heading down to Brighton, this conveniently coincides with the recent announcement of our partnership with Brighton and Hove and the delivery of 6,000 charge points to the city!

Anyway, back to it... What to expect? Funky thrift shops, sustainable coffee shops, and EV charging bays... (exciting stuff, I know)

Essentials:

  • Sunnies

  • A brolly

  • Speedos (if you must)

  • A reusable cup

  • Flippy floppys

  • A beach towel

  • An obnoxiously extra-wide-brimmed-sunhat

Getting There: Road Trip Ready

Brighton’s just over an hour from London (depending on how generous the traffic gods are). Hit the road early to beat the crowds, and maybe stop off at Devil’s Dyke for a quick scenic detour before heading into town.

Shop Sustainably

Brighton is a goldmine for secondhand treasure hunters. Here are a few can’t-miss stops:

  • Snoopers Paradise (North Laine): A Brighton icon. Think everything from retro furniture to vintage sunglasses.

  • To Be Worn Again: Pre-loved fashion with great prices and solid 90s nostalgia.

  • Beyond Retro: Bright colours, bold prints, and the occasional sequin jumpsuit. What more could you want?

  • Wolf & Gypsy: Perfect if your vibe is a little more curated-boho.

All within walking distance and good for the soul (and the planet).

Stuck For Things To Do?

  • Stroll Brighton’s Undercliff Walk: It’s flat, scenic, and perfect for a breezy afternoon. Bonus points if you spot a dolphin.

  • Rent a paddleboard at the seafront and give your arms a little workout to burn off the candy floss consumption.

  • Take a tour of Earthship Brighton: A truly unique eco-home built entirely from natural and recycled materials. And they even help you to design your own at home!

Where To Eat

  • Redroaster Café: Carbon-neutral coffee? Yes please. Bright, modern, and plant-packed inside and out.

  • Wild Flor: Locally sourced ingredients and modern British dishes in a swanky Hove setting.

  • Bardsley's: It's an institution. Proper fish and chips.

  • The Roundhill: A sustainable pub that serves a banging vegan Sunday roast.

Stress-free Charging

Brighton & Hove have more than 500 public chargers available, many in walkable areas with plenty to explore while you top up.

Just park, plug in, and go explore.

So go ahead, swap the fumes for fresh sea air, support some local gems, and make the most of your long weekend down in Brighton.
